Cities of TradeMusic from the great European trading centres The trading centres of London, Amsterdam, Nuremburg and Venice flourished in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries: London and Amsterdam as two up and coming commercial centres, Nuremburg as the link between northern and southern Europe, while Venice continued to dominate the trade of the Mediterranean. Musically these cities harboured many of the foremost talents of the day, each in turn feeding off each others musical fashions. The music here represents much of the everyday professional music making whether it be for state occasions or for the more day to day merry making drawing on compositions by Bendinelli, Padbrue, Staden, Susato and Holborn amongst others.
